    Need help with iTunes

    Ok so here's the thing...

A friend of mine got a new computer and downloaded iTunes. But they didn't back up their music to cd's or a thumb drive or anything, so the only place they have their music is on their iPod. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you sync an iPod to iTunes, it removes everything from the iPod and puts whatever is in iTunes on it.

I have heard of something called tunes transfer or something online where you can upload songs from the iPod to iTunes without deleting anything saved on the iPod.

If you guys have any other ideas/suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

and I have to have it figured out by wednesday.

Wish I could help but my hands are too cold bro. Besides, I am no genius when it comes to this. I would normally come to you for help on this.

    Hahaahah yeah...

Baz asked me if I could help him with it, and I have an idea. I was hoping some of the guys on here would be more of an expert at something like this than I am.

I have had a similar problem in the past, this is what I did.

Open the ipod through my computer
then go to tools> folder options>click on view tab
then click on the box called "hidden files and folders"> then click on the box that says "show hidden files and folders"

After all that you have to go to "ipod control" folder> you will see itunes folder and your music folder. The only draw back of this method is that the names of your music files/folders will be messed up like ex it will be something like CXENH.

If that doesn't work go the ipod forum

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I just wasn't exactly sure how to extract the songs. That really sucks that the names are all jacked, but it's better than nothing I suppose. Thanks for your input.

    Re: Need help with iTunes

I wonder if the reason they were corrupted is the way you first retrieve them. Meaning, if ripped from a CD, the encryption is still valid and the name should stay. But if taken from limewire or napster, the encryption is probably gone and that's why it's all jacked. But he said he had only like 300 songs, so if even half of them are messed up, I'd be satisfied.
