I think it's all relative to the context of it all.

I don't think rooting for a team that hasn't won a Super Bowl removes your right to be happy about your team's current year success. And if some of that happieness can be expressed in well placed smack talk then that's more than acceptable as well.

But, at the same time, if the context is too giddy (for lack of a better term) I get the disdain for them going overboard with the chest beating.

At the same time, does other people wearing the same clothing winning a championship years ago really grant a fan of a shitty team any more of a proverbial "right" to beat their chest about their mediocre team?

Granted, that doesn't really apply to Kingdom here, but I have heard that complaint from other team fans. (And I think Kingdom really dislikes smack talk in general, IIRC, so there's that)

Smack talk is fine. I just don't see how those fans have any reason to talk smack. I'm just sitting there thinking..congrats..you went to a super bowl many years ago and got destroyed. Yet, because you beat my team once this season, actually split the series, you now have the greatest team ever eh? Even though you haven't won a playoff game in..

I just find it goofy. It's hard to take serious. Even Carolina fans crack me up. Sure be happy, you're having a great year and Cam is finally playing like a real QB. But you've not accomplished shit yet. Don't act like you're the greatest team ever.

"Acting like the greatest team ever" is a bit of hyperbole, though.

Perhaps they're just acting like they're going to the playoffs and Pittsburgh is not.

At least that's how it was with me when I engaged in a bit of smack talk with the Raiders fans and continually got that type of "you have no room to smack talk" ring counting response.

It's one thing to poke at that scenario and true, 99% likely that's the case and that in itself doesn't bother me. Partly because Cinci goes nowhere in the playoffs, partly because their QB is Andy Dalton. But one season doesn't make a team. And to me, you're hyping up your 10 or 11 win team yet you never go anywhere, so I see that as a failure. The Bungals were given the name Bungals for a reason.

And if I reverse jinx things, I will make a future grinds my gears post about reverse jinxes.

Fans of franchises that have never done a damn thing in their history gloating since they're having a good season..yet are always one and done in the playoffs. Go home.

I've been pretty quiet this season with the Niners and their issues with their passing game. But for the love of the man upstairs, STOP CALLING OTHER TEAMS FANS HATERS when they haven't done jack when it comes to winning the big one. That's the goal isn't it? Just get in the damn playoffs and go from there right. No one gives a crap about how many division wins since the Hawks got BACK into the NFC West (they were originally there in 1976, before going to the AFC West). It's ALWAYS been about championships and always will be about CHAMPIONSHIPS. So until said team puts up a title. I don't even want to hear about complaining about XL and the refs, the other teams past or 11-3 until they win a title. Get it, got it, Good.

Oh yeah. Seablamers (Seahawks) fans grinds my effin gears.

One thing I've always hated about that complaint is that it seems too convenient. Your team hasn't won a Super Bowl so you're not allowed to talk. But it typically comes from fans of teams who conveniently (for the argument) won multiple times. And you know what happens if the Chargers win one finally? Those same Raider fans will tell me to shut up because their three outnumbers the one.

And you can interchange teams there. If the Seahawks win the SB this year are you going to let them fire away next year if they look strong again? Or are you going to tell them to shut up until they win five?

It's more of the whining about super bowl XL and the 11-3 record that annoys the crap out of me. When they lose, the fans blame the refs. MOST of them do. I can care less about the rings argument. It's been a longer wait to get back to the super bowl for the Hawks than it is for the Niners. If they win one (A Major IF), then yeah have at it. But don't think because they are 11-3 and the shit talking they have produced on my wall and news feed is going keep them exempt from this rant.

Raider fans have the ref blaming gimmick trademarked. Some of them truly believe that the league actively tries to conspire against them through the refs.
