Pretentious atheists pretending like they actually care about whatever obscure holiday/tradition modern Christian holidays "stole" because the church decided to celebrate their holidays at the same time centuries ago.

I doubt many, if any at all, do. Most of them go on about the original traditions/holidays as a way of suggesting that Christians should feel bad about celebrating Jesus' resurrection just because the commercial aspect of the holiday borrowed symbolism from the Ishtar celebration of Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility and sex. (citing an example of the most current relevance. Around Christmas time you'll see them pretending to care about the original celebrations of Winter Solstice and the traditions that originated the "Christmas tree")

But, if in this case, somebody truly is posting something like that because they really celebrate an ancient goddess (which would kind of contradict the whole "atheist" thing, but I digress) then more power to them.

Speaking of which, I hate it when some random news event happens that doesn't even affect the majority of people on facebook and they all turn into political activists and make facebook a bigger political argument shitstorm than it normally is.

I've basically turned away from Facebook because of this very fact. So much random BS on there that I don't even bother.

There's always politically motivated bullshit on there. But typically I'm able to overlook it because it's still just a random status here or there and some stupid pictures with strawman arguments.

Hell, I actually don't mind getting involved in a few of them here and there when it's posted by a friend I know isn't the type to ignore opposing opinions in favor of repeating the usual party line drivel.

But every so often something happens in the news (this case, the California hearing on gay marriage) and suddenly everyone turns into a political activist and somebody creates some "profile picture" campaign.

It was the same crap with Chick Fil A not too long ago.

I think gay people have every right to get married, but changing my profile picture on facebook isn't giong to help that happen or sway the judge's opinions and only serves to turn facebook into a political sesspool of arguments.

Stupid overly sentimental characters in zombie movies/shows.

Everyone who's ever watched a zombie movie/show knows who I'm talking about. That dumbass who refuses to kill the friend or family member who just got bit because it's somehow wrong to kill the person, or they're holding onto a blind hope of it just not happening.

And, of course, this post was fueled by watching Andrea on Walking Dead waste so much time talking to Milton instead of getting the freakin pliers before he turns.

Nope. I watched the first season and wasn't all that impressed. I watched a newer episode the other day and still don't get the hype.

It took me awhile to start watching it because I absolutely loathe hype machines and when I saw that the show actually has another show dedicated solely to talking about the show that really struck a nerve with me.

That being said, the wife started watching it from season 1 and I went ahead and got into it.

I still hate the hype aspect of it though. Kinda ruins it a bit. But I'm also able to look past that sorta stuff.

I still don't watch it, and I'm still pissed Rubicon was cancelled for this shit to air. Rubicon was fucking great. Fuck the dumb American public.
