Torrealba DFA'd

Rangers designated C Yorvit Torrealba for assignment.
An expected move following the acquisition of Geovany Soto. Torrealba, 34, is hitting just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and a .643 OPS in 49 games played this season. Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reported Tuesday that the Nationals are expected to have interest.

I don't see Soto as an upgrade so I'm surprised by the move but whatever. Some team will take Torrealba as their backup.

Torrealba is just the back up, what do you expect? Some teams barely have a starting catcher let alone a quality back up.

Can't really explain what happpened with Soto, but maybe being in a lineup with the likes of Hamilton, Cruz, Kinsler, etc.. will help him bounce back.

He was officially released and I think Tampa Bay would be a great fit.
