The Rangers have agreed to a one-year deal with 39 year old reliever Darren Oliver.
This will be Oliver's 3rd stint with the Rangers in his career. He has already spent 7 1/2 years, mostly as a starter, for Texas including a 14-6 record during the Rangers post-season run in 1996.
As a starter Oliver was usually either mediocre or downright bad, but he revitalized his career by moving to the bullpen with the Mets in 2006. In the past 4 years as a reliever Oliver posted a 19-4 record with a 3.19 ERA in nearly 300 innings pitched.
