The Rangers managed to rebound from a 5-2 opening day loss and nip the Mariners 5-4 in game 2, thanks to a 9th inning rally.
Ranger starter Vicente Padilla kicked off his season in grand fashion going 6 innings and only allowing 1 Seattle run. The offense couldn't back him up though as the Rangers also only managed to score 1 run off of Seattle starter Felix Hernandez. The Rangers finally got some offense going scoring 2 runs in the 8th off O'Flaherty, but Joaquin Benoit couldn't hold the lead giving up 3 more Mariner runs (although only 1 of them was earned).
The Rangers trailed 4-3 going into the 9th and lights-out closer J.J. Putz coming on for Seattle. With one out in the 9th Josh Hamilton made his first mark as a Ranger slamming what would be the game-winning 2-run homerun giving the Rangers the lead 5-4. C.J. Wilson pitched a scoreless 9th to notch his first save of the season.
In tonight's game former NL rookie of the year Jason Jennings takes the mound for Texas against Carlos Silva who will be making his Mariners debut.
