Game 1 Recap
In Thursday series opener against Oakland, Millwood started for Texas and was roughed up for 6 runs, the Rangers rallied back to within 1 run but couldn't tie it up, and the A's went on to take the opener 6-5.
The A's beat up on Millwood for 6 runs on 8 hits, including Nick Swisher's 20th homerun of the season, over 4.2 innings for the loss.
Oakland starter Chad Gaudin held the Ranger bats to just 1 run over the first 6 innings of the game. The Rangers finally got the bats going in the 7th putting 2 more on the board against Gaudin, and finished with 4 runs in the inning to make it a 6-5 game. That would be the end of scoring on both sides as the A's went on to win.
The highlight for Texas was Jason Botts who hit his 2nd homerun of the year, and 3rd of his career. Hank Blalock also went 2 for 2 with a 2 walks and his 14th double of the season.
