Game 1 Recap
It took a solid outting from Kevin Millwood, and a come from behind rally by the offense, but the Rangers managed to put together a winning streak defeating the Royals 5-3 in the series opener.
The Royals got on the board first with a run in the 1st inning, which would be the only run scored until the Rangers broke through with a run in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game. The 4th inning run was courtesy of Michael Young's 7th homerun of the year. The Royals re-took the lead scoring 2 runs in the 6th off Kevin Millwood to make it a 3-1 game, but the Rangers rallied in the bottom of the inning to score 4 runs and take a 5-3 lead. Three of those 4 runs came on a Gerald Laird homerun, also his 7th of the year.
Kevin Millwood took the mound for Texas and pitched arguably his best game of the year. He gave up 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits in 7 innings walking 1 and striking out 9. C.J. Wilson pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to nail down his 5th save.
