Game 1 Recap
Trying to snap another losing streak, the Rangers sent Robinson Tejeda to the mound to face off against Milwaukee starter Chris Capuano.
Tejeda was dominating for most of the game allowing just 1 run through the first 6 innings, but got hammered for 5 runs on the 7th including 2-run homeruns from Corey Hart and Ryan Braun. Tejeda finished the day allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and striking out 7 over 6.2 innings of work. He still managed to pick up the win despite his ERA ballooning to nearly 6.5.
The Brewers took an early 1-0 lead thanks to Prince Fielder's 22nd homerun of the year in the 2nd inning. The Rangers responded putting 2 on the board in the bottom of the inning due to a bases loaded walk to Michael Young and an RBI single from Mark Teixeira. The Rangers expanded the lead to 7-1 by combinging for 5 more runs over the 4th and 5th innings, including Ian Kinsler's 11th homerun of the year. Texas nearly blew the game in the 7th when Tejeda allowed 5 runs to make it a 7-6 Ranger lead. The bullpen managed to shut down the Milwaukee bats and Texas added a couple more runs and went on to win 9-6. Eric Gagne struck out 2 in a perfect 9th for his 6th save of the year.
Game Note: Ian Kinsler's solo homerun in the 4th off Chris Capuano was his first homerun since May 13th against the Angels.
