Pending a physical, reports are that the Rangers have come to an agreement to bring Frank Catalanotto back to north Texas. The deal is reportedly worth $13 million over 3 years with an option for a 4th year.
Catalanotto played for the Rangers from 2000-2002. In his first year as a full-time starter in 2001 he hit .330 with 31 doubles in 463 AB's.
In 4 years with the Blue Jays he had his usual 35 double gap power and never hit lower than .293 including a .300+ average each of the last 2 years.
If the Rangers fail to resign Gary Matthews Junior than Cat is the most likely prospect to take over the leadoff spot with his .376 OBP from last year.
For a Ranger fan this is great news and I am totally excited to see Catalanotto back in a Ranger uni this year, and possibly for the next 4 years.
