Re: 2015 Tampa Bay Rays season
This was a real pitchers duel at one point Erasmo Ramirez retired 16 straight.
The only runs in the game came in the 7th, Cabrera reached on an infield single, Kiermaier homered to right, giving the Rays a 2-0 win.
Williams Perez went all 8 innings against the Rays giving up just the two run homer, four hits, four walks and struck out one for the loss. After posting a 12.19 ERA in two outings it was a small victory, he got a quality start.
and it was the first complete game of his career.
Erasmo Ramirez went seven scoreless innings giving up five hits and struck out four for the win, Cedeno got the save.
It was the second fastest game in Rays franchise history at 2:02, the shortest came against the Royals at 1:53 on August 9, 2011.
John Jaso hit a long foul ball in the first, it was reviewed but upheld as a foul.
Braves came close to scoring in the first, but a throw by Nava cut him down at the plate.the play was challeneged but upheld on the review.
KK's homer was his fifth on the season and first since June 3 against the Angels.
After a 2-for-4 night, Markakis is 19-for-48 (.396) in 13 games against the American League this season. Since Interleague Play began in 1997, Markakis leads the Majors (minimum 150 games played) with a .338 Interleague average.
Cabrera had two of the Rays' four hits. It was his seventh multihit game in his last eight, giving the shortstop a .478 batting average since coming off the disabled list July 28.
Catch of the night came in the fourth, Asdrubal Cabrera launched deep to right center,Cameron Maybin made a leaping cacth against the wall that was likely extra bases.
Rays have now won three straight, bring them a game above .500 for the first time since July 18th. Braves have lost 20 of 29 since July 8. This was the first of a two game set.

Re: 2015 Tampa Bay Rays season
In the first, DeShields Jr. was hit by a pitch then stole second, Choo walked, Fielder walked to load the bases. Beltre grounded into a double play, DeShields Jr.scored. Karns got out of the inning just 1-0 Rangers.
In the second, Cabrera doubled and went to third on a throwing error by Perez, Jennings singled in the run, 1-1 tie.
Rangers second, Hamilton led off with a home run to right center, 2-1.
In the third, Kiermaier reached on an infield singled while tripping over Moreland. Casali was hit by a pitch, Guyer grounded into fielder's choice, KK out at third. Longoria doubled, Casali and Guyer scored, Rays take a 3-2 lead.
In the seventh, Steven Geltz pitching for Tampa Bay, DeShields Jr. homered to left for the tie.
In the 8th, Jake McGee pitching for Tampa Bay, Beltre singled, Moreland singled, Beltre to third, Moreland advanced on the throw. Hamilton hit a sac fly, Beltre scored. Andrus singled, Moreland scored. Gomes relieved McGee, Andrus caught stealing to end the inning, Rangers lead 5-3.
Rays had a base runner in the ninth, but the Rangers take game one.
Karns went 4.2 innings, gave up two runs on two hits, five walks and struck out four, McGee took the loss.
Perez went six, giving up three runs (one unearned) on 8 hits, one walk and struck out one, Dyson got the win, Shawn Tolleson the save.
Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-4 and is now batting .500 (27-for-54) with 10 extra-base hits since his return from the disabled list on July 28. It was his seventh game with three hits this season.
Josh Hamilton had an MRI on his sore knee before the game, no structural damage so he played and he broke two ties in the game.
Catch of the day was Kevin Kiermaier when he leaped reaching above the 8-foot wall to make the inning-ending catch that robbed Prince Fielder of a homer in the fifth.
Delino DeShields Jr. homer in the seventh was the first of his MLB career.
Jennings had a good return collecting three hits.
It was the 13th time since MLB started replay last season that there have been three overturned calls in the same game. There have never been four. The last one on the Rays proved costly. Moreland fielded a hard chopper, stepped on first and threw across to Beltre. Curt Casali was tagged on the shoulder sliding into third. When Casali overslid the base and reached back, Beltre tagged him again, only to have the ball pop out of his glove. Crew chief Mark Carlson initially called an out before signaling safe. The overturn came on an angle that showed Beltre tagging Casali in the back, the problem with that angle was it failed to show where Casali's hand was at the time of that tag, but it was still overturned.
Injury report:
Drew Smyly is scheduled Sunday to make his first start since May 5, he threw a bullpen Friday with no problems. The Rays will have to make room for Smyly, likely either Kirby Yates or Richie Shaffer back to Triple-A until Sept. 1. The Rays will also have to drop a player off the 40-man roster, or put injured minor-league LHP Grayson Garvin on the big-league roster and then the 60-day DL.

DeShields singled, Odor scored. Choo singled, Gimenez scored, 6-1 Rangers. Yates relieved Archer. Fielder grounded into fielder's choice, DeShields scored, Beltré homered to left center Choo and Fielder scored, 10-1.
In the seventh, Spencer Patton pitching for Texas, Nava hit for Jennings, singled, Guyer hit for Kiermaier, singled, Jaso walked to load the bases. Diekman relieved Patton, Longoria singled, Nava and Guyer scored. 10-3. Rally ended when Longoria was picked off on first in a rare mistake.
In the Texas half, Odor led off with a walk, Choo homered, 12-3.
In the 8th, Cabrera homered, 12-4. That would be all the scoring, Rangers take the series, go for the sweep Sunday.
Archer went 5.1 innings, giving up eight runs on eleven hits, three walks and struck out four for the loss.
Lewis went six, giving up one run on five hits, two walks with four Ks for the win.
The Rangers won their third in a row, and moved half a game ahead of the Rays in the wild-card standings. Texas is 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Angels in the second wild-card position. Perhaps Texas has gotten some inside scoop since Chris Gimenez and Bobby Wilson were acquired on July 31, seems many ex-Rays are coming back to bite them on the behind.
With his 10th homer, Beltre has reached double figures in 16 seasons. Only the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez, with 18, has more among current players. Boston's David Ortiz also has 16.
After the game Kirby Yates was optioned to make room for Drew Smyly who will be the starter tomorrow for the Rays, a move on the 40 man roster is yet to be announced.

Jose Dominguez, whom the Dodgers traded to get Joel Peralta and Adam Liberatore, was DFA'd by the Rays, according to @TBTimes_Rays.
That made me smile, yet I won't argue the joke's on us for taking on Peralta.

The move was part of my game post, but the site was down and I couldn't get it in before I went out for a bit.
He was designated to make room for Drew Smyly on the 40-man roster. The Rays have given away many players from the last couple of trades.
Peralta thrived here for us even with his age, but he is no spring chicken anymore.

Re: 2015 Tampa Bay Rays season
In Monday's contest both middle infielders Beckham and Cabrera had three RBI, last time the two positions did that was on June 9, 2012 (Ben Zobrist/Elliot Johnson).
Tonight's line-up:

Jake Odorizzi (6-6, 3.09) he allowed six earned runs in six-plus innings against the Braves for a no-decision in his last outing. He has won both of his career starts against the Astros, logging 13 scoreless innings in those outings. He hopes to extend his win streak to five. Against him, Altuve is 1 for 5, Gattis is 0 for 2, Correa is 1 for 2 and Rasmus is 1 for 8 with a triple.
Scott Feldman (5-5, 4.17) earned the only two wins on the Astros recent nine-game road trip. He is 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA in five starts since being activated from a 45-game DL stint after he tore his medial meniscus. Against him, Cabrera is 4 for 7 with a double and an RBI, Jennings is 3 for 9 with a double, Longoria is 2 for 12 with a double and homer run, three RBI and Nava is 5 for 10 with a double, home run and three RBI.
After an anemic offense most of the season, the Rays have had 10 or more hits in five straight games which hasn't been done since 2012. They are two shy of the franchise record achieved in 2005.

Houston started the scoring in the third, Castro singled, Altuve reached on bunt single, González doubled, Castro scored.

In the seventh, Kiermaier led off with a single, Casali doubled, KK to third, Sizemore walked to load the bases, Longoria grounded into fielder's choice sending KK to the plate, Rays lead 2-1.
In the 8th, Jake McGee pitching for Tampa Bay, Altuve led off with a single, González singled, Correa doubled in Altuve, 2-2 tie.
Game remains tied after nine, with Gregerson pitching for the Astros, Rays went down in order in the 10th.
In the Astros half, Brad Boxberger pitching for Tampa Bay, González led with a walk off homer to right to take a 3-2 win, taking game two, series is now tied.
Odorizzi went six innings, giving up one run on six hits, one walk and struck out nine for a no-decision. Boxberger took his 9th loss.
Feldman went seven innings giving up two runs on nine his, two walks abs struck out two, Gregerson took the win.
Longoria had two hits and drove in a run in the seventh. He has 24 RBIs in 26 career games against the Astros, including 18 in 13 games at Minute Maid Park.
Jose Altuve's last 26 hits have been singles. The last Astros player to have 26 singles without an extra-base hit was pitcher Roy Oswalt, who had 31 singles from 2007-10. The last position player was Willy Taveras, who had 26 singles in 2005.
Texas manager Hinch successfully challenged a play at first base in the third inning. Altuve was awarded a single after originally being called out following a bunt to Longoria.
Scary moment of the game in the seventh when Carlos Correa and Carlos Gomez collided trying to field a double off Curt Casali. Correa was clutching his lower leg but stayed in the game.
I think it is seriously time for Kevin Cash to take a different approach to how he uses the bull pen , but I doubt he will change.
After the game Enny Romero was optioned and Matt Andriese was recalled.
