The Rangers rocked the Rays last week in Arlington then went and Sawked Boston over the weekend, taking both series.

The Rays finally found a little bit of stick to go with the pitching to take 2 of 3 from the Orioles. They need heaters and hot bats to cool off the Rangers and will need to perform Herculean labors to stay in the pennant race.

Scott Feldman pitched six scoreless innings against the Rays last Tues. He took over Matt Harrison’s spot and is pitching instead of Ogando, who is being skipped.


James Shields held the Rangers scoreless on four hits in 8 innings last Wed. He needs one K to tie former Ray Scott Kazmir as the only other pitcher in club history to reach 200 in a season.

Rays took the first game of the set behind another CG for James Shields. His 11th of the season making him the first pitcher to achieve that feat in the current century. He reached the 200 strike out mark in the 1st inning facing Josh Hamilton.

Longoria hit his 25th homer of the year and Upton also hit a solo in the 7th. Kotchman got 2 RBI’s, Michael the only RBI for the Rangers and the Rays won 5-1. 500th win for Manager Joe Maddon, 19 with the Angels and 481 with the Rays.

CJ Wilson had pitched 5 perfect innings against the Rays on Thursday, but was struck in the hand by a grounder off Kotchman in the 6th and had to leave the game. It was still enough for the win.
