The Rays played their part in the historic event of the season while losing 2 of 3 (one game was PPD) from the Yankees, sliding further back.
Sox will be without Carl Crawford who starts a rehab tonight for Pawtucket, plans are for him to join the team in Baltimore Monday.
The Rays sent John Jaso to the DL with a strained oblique and called up Jose Lobaton from Durham. Reports are that Jaso was playing though the pain in silence, probably afraid he is going to lose his job. Lobaton, a switch hitter is batting .293 with the Bulls with 8 homers, 31 RBIs and a .410 OBP.
Lefty Jake McGee was also recalled to take Sonnanstine’s spot.
Tonight’s match ups

David Price as everyone knows pitched against the Yanks last Sat. giving up Jeter’s 3K, also only lasted 5 innings giving up 4 runs. After a week of fielding numerous questions and interviews Price is cashing in from the feat himself signing a deal for signed memorabilia of the event.
Not sure what unusual ways the rest of the league goes about raising money for their charities but the Rays always seem to come up with very unique ideas. This weekend the Rays kick off two, both endorsed by Johnny Damon. Starting tonight fans are encouraged post game to come onto the field and “Strike A Captain Morgan Pose” (the Rays allow every fan to leave the stadium via the field on Fridays) , the goal is 25, 000 poses by the end of the season to raise money for the United Way. Damon and his wife are also hosting “Uncork for a Cause” on Saturday night, unveiling wine endorsed and labeled for Damon with proceeds going to the families of the officers killed earlier this year in ST Pete.
