All-Star Pitching Rays VS Halfabagofcandyleft Minnesota Twins 7/4-7/6

    Probables..

    Price VS Duensing

    Shields VS Baker

    Davis VS Liriano

The Twins have been hurting without the M & M boys, one could be back today at 1B the other just had surgery on his neck and had his wrist cast removed. They still managed to take the IL series from the Brewers, battling every step of the way.

The Rays just took a series from the Pujoless Cardinals. Finally getting a bit of offense at home in the final game on Sunday.

Both teams have older work horses climbing career leader charts. Damon is now 69th on the all time hits list at 2,661. Jim Thome needs 5 homers to reach 600, he may get a couple steps closer.

Price pitched good enough to win against the Reds last Tues. but tired in the 8th allowing the Reds to tie and getting a no decision. The Rays went on to win with a walk off from Longoria.

Duensing usually isn’t wild, but had a rough outing against the Dodgers, giving up 4 walks, hit a batter and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, though still managed to get the win.

It's the being named to the All-Star curse, wonder if Big Game will be stricken tomorrow?

The offense is shut out again and a CG for Duensing after a bit of a wobbly start, the later it went the better he got.

    Tonight’s match ups…

CG James Shield lost his 5th game last Wed. against the Reds. He managed 10 strike outs but gave up 4 runs which has been too many when you consider the overall poor run production of the Rays offense at home.

Scott Baker pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings on Wed. against the Dodgers, with 6 hits, 1 BB and 9 Ks reaching the 100th mark for the season. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 16 1/3 innings at Target Field.

Seems Gardenhire had a change of heart or perhaps it was Mauer who nixed the going to 1b idea at least for now.

    Line-ups

    Rays

    Damon DH
    Zobrist 2B
    Longoria 3B
    Joyce RF
    Upton CF
    Kotchman 1B
    Jaso C
    Fuld LF
    Johnson SS

    Twins

    Revere CF
    Casilla 2B
    Mauer C
    Cuddyer 1B
    Thome DH
    Valencia 3B
    Tosoni LF
    Repko RF
    Nishioka SS
