Opening Day means many things to many baseball players. To Dewon Brazelton, gaining the Opening Day 2005 assignment as the Devil Rays' starting pitcher is a measuring stick. An incremental move from here to there, but not quite yet where he wants to be.
"I want to do well, but I don't think it's going to define my season," Brazelton said. "It's only the first game, and there's going to be 32 after that. So I think it's very important, don't get me wrong, but I don't think if I have a bad game it's going to ruin the rest of my season -- or, if I have a great season, I'll be a Cy Young winner. It's just the first game -- no more, no less."
