Maybe the Cubs should pick him up and sign him to a minor league deal for next season. Two Lee's at first wouldn't be bad as both are great defensively.Devil Rays released first baseman Travis Lee.
Lee, already set to become a free agent at the end of the season, hadn't started a game since Ty Wigginton's return on Sept. 1. "There was no playing time left for him here," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "We thought it would give him an opportunity to catch on with someone else possibly for these last couple weeks. There was no real plan for him now and in the future with us." Lee hit .224/.312/.364 in 343 at-bats for the Rays this season.
