I was recently unable to attend the S3SL draft. With the 2nd overall pick, due to a financial issue, the game auoted me a 4.0 prospect.

#22 Miguel Narvaez, Catcher, 18 yrs, San Diego Padres - Out of the Park Baseball Report

That is the player in question. Guy is not 2nd overall pick material. Mission has given me a ray of hope, but basically at least half the league has to approve.

DMB, if you make a poll and at least 15 teams vote in your favor, I would increase Narvaez:

Catcher arm from 3 to 9
Catcher range from 7 to 9
Contact potential from 7 to 8

While he wouldn't be a super stud, he would be a solid prospect capable of a decent OPS with plus defense. As it wouldn't be fair to do this without at least half of the league supporting it, you need to do the poll to see if they would be ok with it.

So it's up to you guys, he's not going to turn him into a stud. Just a capable starting catcher. I hope you'll help the Padres out, but I'm ok if you want to vote no.

That draft pick at #2 does not make any sense... Sometimes OOTP doesn't make any sense. I can live with the boost. At least you get a serviceable defensive C for the future.

hed be fairly solid at 8/7/8/8/7 with 9/9 on defense... at least more deserving of the 2nd pick than he is. im cool with it.

yes, b/c I got an awesome player at my pick that you could have had. But, mission may want to consider putting a disclaimer when we have drafts in the future, ***auto can take you a sh-tty spec if your team has no money***. I already knew that, but hopefully this doesnt come up again in the future.

with the number 2 pick...you could have posted anywhere in the s3f forum your top two choices and you would have definitely got the pick you wanted. not doing so really squandered the opportunity and i feel like you should be equitably punished by laches. hell, i had the 20th pick, and managed to give the names of a couple guys to saber and brewerball in case they were still available. luckily, one was. so, i empathize for your loss.

however, when you couple that with the budget woes you complain of, you really have no leg to stand on. clearly you could not afford the $85m payroll, or many of the budgeting decisions that you seem to have made over the past few seasons. i went overbudget last season, but only with the understanding that a good chunk of that would be cleared off the books for this year. at some point, there is a reckoning for bad business choices. for you, this was that reckoning.

yes, this will push you back a couple years. and as much as i hate the concept of tanking in sim league baseball, sometimes you have to dismantle and look to rebuild with less-expensive options.

I really don't see how I could have just posted my top two choices anywhere. Mission really doesn't do the whole board draft thing. It's my understanding I'd have to give a list to someone.
