    Random Styles of GM's

We all know that other people have different style of the way they run teams?

Who is most likely to stand pat on trades or develop from within?

Who is most likely to make an aggressive trade to help their team win now?

Who likes to run a lot?

Who perfers to have power or stay patient, or relies on their rotation more than their pen or vice versa?

I'm interested to see how it gets answered.

For me it all depends on your ballpark!

    Coors is different.

NYM is different due to revenue capacity.

    OOTP takes ballparks into consideration?

No wonder my All pitching-no offense Padres keeps winning (for the most part) in TSSL.

This would be a good thread for a general discussion encompassing all leagues.

Except, I wouldn't know where we'd put it.

Why? Different GM's act differently in some leagues, plus most are not in all leagues.

I think it fits fine in a particular league forum. I know I wouldn't be able to evaluate other GM's near as well as this one and I am sure others feel the same about their most active league.

Yeah the game has dimensions and various other integers associated with each park that gives it that "realism" ...I don't think Coors is as bad anymore after they introduced the Humidor. Arlington can be a ***** though

Who is most likely to stand pat on trades Realmofotalk or Slyder

or develop from within? I think Mission does it pretty well, especially in this league, he'll trade 1-2 random guys for prospects every once in a while, otherwise he has benefited from a very fruitful farm in Florida

Who is most likely to make an aggressive trade to help their team win now? Me

Who likes to run a lot? General.. and me.

Who perfers to have power HollywoodLeo, he's a sucker for spending big on those 10 power dudes.

or stay patient, Saber and mission tend to have a lot of guys all over the roster who draw a lot of walks or have the potential to do so, and Saber tends to take chances on those types more often in free agency.

or relies on their rotation more than their pen or vice versa? clearly providence a's, he manufactures more good pitchers than Marlboro does cancer and doesn't win without the likes of Harden, Street, etc

    Re: Styles of GM's

I have an aggressive side when on the cusp or when Im demolishing. I brought in a lot of guys during my world series run over a couple year window (3/5 of my rotation, Weeks, Collum, bunch of pen guys). I just tend to play it safe and not get too fancy cause thats where error comes in.

Can I be overly passive? Yes, but if you look when I'm competing for titles I am usually among the leaders in trades. Do I leave trades on the table cause I'm not comfortable? Yes.

Plus it doesnt help that there arent many teams who's needs fit my wants right now.

My perspective on hitters isnt quite Sabrmetrics but the same string ties my teams together usually. High contact and High Eye even sometimes at the cost of power (KC TPSL)... unless theyre statistical freaks (Lubin=S3SL, Lieber= Original SBSL, etc) then I ride them as long as I can.

I also am the fan of the minor deals, I got a batting champ out of one of them and gotten many contributors from the minor deals Ive pulled. I like to send out a lot of feelers, not all come back as possibilities but sometimes you find guys that just fit (Nivar, Bass, etc).

so true in TSSL at least, but I also always have one of the top defenses when looking at the season fielding totals. and I also traded for a lot my pitchers in that league; Harden, Sheets, Haren, Knipp, Butler, Colton, Rodney, Jr., etc. I did draft/trade for my best relievers. I've never really had a scary offense.

I won my first WS in TPSL and was without Street at least. I had Ramon Ramirez and his 46 saves. And I had a scary offense. I had the batting champ, 3 guys with over 35 homers, 2 guys with over 110 RBIs, and 2 more with over 90 RBIs. My 4 top starters did win 14, 15, 18, and 19 games though. In TPSL 2.0 my offense has been better than my pitching at least according to the rankings.

In the couple of full seasons in SBSL, my teams have underperformed with negative Pythagorean records. Now my offense is way better than my overall pitching.

I can't really argue with this.

It's generally what I look at first.

But I may change my style considering the league I've seen the most success in is the one I have the least power in.
