GM with the hardest road ahead of him

Who is the team that has the hardest road to go to get their team in playoff contention? Who is furthest away from competing? Basically, who has a bad team and no farm system?

No one should take offense to being included on this list, by the way. Its just pointing out how tough your job is.

    San Francisco
    Oakland
    St. Louis
    Houston

to name a few. Anyone agree? NY(N) and ATL have young talent after the losing seasons. Toronto isn't in quite as bad of a situation, comparable to others.

Thanks for the bashing of the Giants. I have some pieces in place. But again how in the hell can I get what I need in free agency if there is nothing there? Campo refused my offer. My entire issue was, when I took Pujols and then I was in a cash bind for several years. I now finally have cash to spend and there is nothing under age 28 that I need or want. So I will draft pitching and hope yet pray someone develops.

I feel I can get Toronto back to contending for the division soon, if the right pieces fall toegther.

I need another good starter to pitch behind Benitez and Countryman, and get some good pitchers for the bullpen too, the pen is always the hardest part for me, I don't know why it's always last on my list to build up.

I'm waiting on a few prospects in AAA to fill out so I can get them in to the lineup soon, mainly Depaz and Alvarado, if they ever get going and fill out I would have two big needs crossed off my list.

The core of the lineup is there with Galeana, Hooley, Cockerham, Leslie, and Cerrano, but it will have to all come together at the right time to make this work. Having a everyday Short-stop is a big need too, Galeana can't be trusted there, hopefully I get one in the near future.

I can't expect all the pieces to fall in just like that so I have a more work to do.

The Giants have an OK minor leagues, their manager just needs to commit to rebuilding.

I plan on keeping Houston down in the gutter Major League style until a band of lovable losers decides to make a run.

Wow, no mention for the Rangers?...C'mon guys, I feel let down.

Anyway, I can tell Haf is itching to switch teams again.

The Rangers have it easy. With only 4 teams in the division, they have a 25% chance at the AL West crown every year. Most teams only have a 20% chance or less.

25% chance, that is, if every team were equally matched. Which you and I both know very well they are not in that division.

But with Seattle having wasted their talented guys and Oakland's team getting old and no sign of rebuilding as of yet, you at least have a shot to eventually challenge the Sabermetrician.

    A shot.

Well, you need to trade me some pitching first.

The O's farm is ranked 6th by OOTP.... but it is vastly overrated... mostly filled with 5 contact hitters and 5 endurance SP's.... plus, I think it is well known that my ML roster is going to pretty much suck.... and the AL East has been pretty tough over all these seasons

Yes Dave, I am sure it will be impossible for you to trade one of your 8-10-9 stud relievers (some of which are close to being an dominant MLB reliever, like a Jason Michaels Jr.) for a starter with a bit less talent.

But if McKee and Gelinas develop a bit more, with Aranda (who I think it underrated), if Savino stays close to his levels for 2022... you should have a very capable and young MLB rotation.

Me after I intentionally demote most of my starters. I might keep my pitching staff intact, but the batting order might be strictly newbies. Hmm.

Houston isn't tough at all. The Cubs got no pitching at all... although, I can't sign an FA worth a dime, so hey.
