I went up to 1 mill, for 3 years. I never expected a 21 year old to take a really long deal. And I was only offering that much based on the possibility that he could have a talent boom, plus that groundball rate..

    Oh well.

Of course, you have to worry that a normal talent decline could put him as a 5-8-6 RP, which means he's a 500k-1 mil RP, even on a desperate market. I mean, it goes both ways

to be fair... that san diego team was in shambles. he did overpay, but the man needed some arms there. hes still vastly underarmed infact.

I potenially have 3 .310+ Hitters ahead of one of the best 2B in the game. The draft looks very good with having the 13th pick. If my offense can hit to its ratings. Look out I could be back in the playoffs. My pitching is better than last season. (couldnt get any worse could it?)

SD will have a lot of money too.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on Jackson, I'd be ambitious enough to make him the leadoff guy.

He would have gotten 6 mil from me at least too. I was going to try and play him at 1B vs LHP and play 25% at 3B so he could learn it. He had the defense to take the chance. But when he got signed Pena was really my only other answer to improve on Hernandes.

The argument can be made. I still think he, at best, doubled a realistic ceiling price for even a wildly successful MR. But some players can be invaluable.

If I was short on arms though, I'd be bargain bin scrounging to fill up a team, but that's me.

As for my team, I think that I'm in a shootout with mission, molina, arizona, colorado, chicago, etc. for two playoff spots I have available to me (East and WC). We all have very good teams, all of which are playoff caliber squads. A lot of luck will determine it. If I had Wilfredo Reyes last year, I may have taken down Washington. If I played to my pyth record, I wouldn't be close. A lot of luck

Don't forget the giants. They did win 90. I'm shocked mntwins didn't try something in free agency, he has a little money.

That's why I put the etc. SF can make splashes, not sure how concerned I am considering he is as lucky as I was last year and didn't make any big changes in FA

Why did you trade for Hernandes.. if you intended to upgrade?

Jackson wouldn't be a bad leadoff guy. Youkilis with power (IRL Youk) essentially.
