Pujols Fractures Wrist

Albert Pujols has been diagnosed with a small fracture in his left wrist and will miss 4-6 weeks.
At least, that's what the Cardinals are saying right now. Under manager Tony La Russa they've tended to provide optimistic misinformation on injuries, and it's quite possible that they're again leaving something out. Pujols also appeared to bang his shoulder in Sunday's collision at first base. He will be placed on the disabled list shortly.

As of right now with this news, I think the Cards are still in decent shape for playoff contention. The reason I say that is because they still have Lance Berkman who can play first and they have Jon Jay who will take over in RF. Jay has a .313 BA with a .799 OPS and plays good defense. He is a good 4th OFer to have. The Cards also have David Freese coming back soon and he will help add to the offense and take some unworthy guys off the roster. Cards are currently tied for first so while the news is bad, its not devastating. This might force Moz's hand to finally go out and get a SS worth a damn as Theriot is better suited playing second base.

He definitely doubled over in pain when it happened. Looked worse than it ended up being.

He's still Albert Pujols. He will still get that 30 mil a year from someone.

Ownership keeps hinting at not going out and getting a player like Pujols or Fielder, but I find that hard to believe.

At this point I'd be a bit worried if I were the Cardinals. Getting strength back in the wrist takes time.

Pablo Sandoval broke a bone in his wrist and he seems to be doing fine. He missed around six weeks and had to have surgery.
