Cardinals get extra day of rest thanks to scheduling
SAN FRANCISCO -- For many a hardcore baseball fan, the All-Star break can be torture: three days with no chance of a win for the favorite team, three days without meaningful boxscores.
Players and managers, however, don't always see it that way.
"When you're playing like crud like I am, it's kind of nice to have the days off," said Larry Walker, who in truth was hitting .367 (11-for-30) with three homers and seven RBIs over the past 10 games before Sunday.
