According to MLB's website, not only is Mulder going to get his shoulder checked on, but his next rehab start may be in doubt. Definitely not something he or the team wants to hear. According to LaRussa, Mulder really wanted to get back to the team last year, but now finally realizes that you cannot force yourself to come back quicker from injury. Hopefully, Mulder will return and will be ok, but I don't know that that can be expected

    Re: Mark Mulder....

Mark Mulder was diagnosed with a mild rotator cuff strain in his left shoulder.
The Cardinals have taken him off his rehab assignment, which was set to expire on May 14. He'll be rested 7-10 days before getting re-evaluated by the team, and could start throwing again at that point. Mulder has struggled on his rehab assignment, earning a 6.66 ERA and allowing 33 hits in 25 2/3 innings.
The Cards gambled and it looks like it won't pay off.

I think this was the cards intention all along. This "infalmation" only allows them allow mark to get healthy in his time. Hopefully its this year..

Mark Mulder retires...officially. What a flake. His labrum was still sound.

So it is a done deal then? Man, I had hopes for this guy to return to form. He was pretty fun to watch. I guess the problem was more serious than we thought.

Yeah, why not? Secretly, I was hoping he would get healthy and line up with Walt Jocketty again. It's no secret Mulder had quite a good arm when healthy.

I agree with redsr. I was hoping we could see him pitch again in at least 90% of what he used to be
