Jim Edmonds won't return from a pinched nerve in his lower back until after the All-Star break.
Today was the first day Edmonds was eligible to come off the disabled list. So Taguchi has been filling in for him.

David Eckstein was sore after working out Sunday, and the Cardinals are now contemplating leaving him on the DL through the All-Star break.
Eckstein has been out since June 14 with back spasms. Aaron Miles is starting in his place.
The Cards need these guys healthy for the second half push. Eckstein finally got things going while Edmonds never really got in the flow of things. Also, when is LaRussa going to figure out he is better off giving Miles most of the playing time over Kennedy?
