as an A's fan, I know all too well about oblique injuries
Think its something very serious?
Albert Pujols will likely be forced to go on the disabled list after leaving Saturday's game with a strained oblique. "If you told me right now that he'd be out two weeks, I would buy you dinner the rest of the year," manager Tony La Russa said.
Pujols was hurt chasing after a foul ball against the Cubs. "He's going to miss a significant period of time, anywhere from a little significant to real significant," La Russa said. "You can't tell for another 18-24 (hours), but it's something you have to deal with." The Cardinals will have to keep piecing things together while Pujols is out. Calling up Brian Daubach to act as a first baseman against right-handers might work. Scott Spiezio is likely to see a lot of time at the position

Damn it, wheras I wouldn't be all too shocked to find out otherwise, as far as I know Puljos is clean and I was hoping he'd beat Bonds' record this year.

serious enough. not that im going to shed too many tears considering the circumstances involved with who it is and how injuries have affected a certain other all star first baseman.Originally Posted by Rufio181

I've got no sympathy since my team has had 7 guys on the DL at one time...2 SP, 3 relievers, starting 2B, and starting RF...1 is off the DL tomorrow, 1 Tuesday, 1 Thursday, and 1 another day this week. thems the breaks...
I did read that he could miss up to 6 weeks.
Particularly since Pujols has never been on the DL before and the Cards have been extremely lucky in terms of injuries over the last few years.

This offense is going to be pretty ugly for those two weeks, yikes.
Oh ok. Im not a doctor so I just assumed this is something you can shake off and play the next day.Originally Posted by rockin500

Once again I am not a doctor and if I was, just hope I am not one of your clients.
I'm not a doctor...I was just saying oblique injuries tend to linger
Well, you never like to see injuries, but if the Reds ever had a chance to take over first place, it's now.
Speeeeeez should do a decent job filling in for Pujols. He has done well this year and has 16 RBI in 90 ABs. Edmonds played there today and went 3-3. Speez is a demon and should help with RISP. Rolen is tearing the cover off the ball.
