I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the actual ejection but I don't think the game situation or who the player is or what wards he might be up for should factor into the ump's decision of whether or not to eject him in the slightest.

i don't see why. If somebody violates a rule he should be held accountable. If he doesn't want to ruin his no-hitter, shutout, or whatever perhaps he shouldn't argue calls or anything else that might lead to an ejection.

You should see why. What if you're in a one run game in late innings and both benches have been warned. A pitcher loses grip on a curveball and hits a batter and gets tossed. That's just one example.
