Any rate, I have to get to bed because I have to be at work in 7 hours.
I'll do my usual mass reply to whatever this thread grows into tomorrow night after I get home from work.

I'm one of the least active posters on this board. The only reason I ever came here was to be in Mission's sim league.
The only people who know me on this board are the ones who I make fun of. The only ones who like me were probably in the sim league. So don't act like Leo and I are buddy buddy and he's sticking up for me in this argument or some shit, you're just a complete tard and anyone with a brain is going to jump on you.
Not to hijack this really strong debate; but I must interject.
Before I make my stance on the argument, I have to ask you guys to refrain from using profain words when directing it at one another. We don't want this board to take up that kind of image. Too many of us have gotten to know eachother all too well and I would hate to see any of you leave on account of an argument such as this.
These are all strong and valid points and everyone is given the opportunity to write their mind. If only we can stop calling eachother "retard" or other misplaced words.
I will not close this thread, but I must clean it up. So if some of your posts are edited, just understand why. I will send a PM to a few of you as well. Feel free to defend your stance as much as possible because I know I can talk to any of you in a civil manner. Basically, we will just have to make this another learning experience.
Ok, my stance on the argument will be posted below:
You're a meanie
I believe that the substances in question have abused players in long term situations and have helped people in short term stints.
In football, when a player takes steroids he damages his ability to play strong throughout an entire game. Steroids destroy the bodies ability to cool down. During highly intense workouts over time such as 4 quarters of football, your body starts to tire quickly. You may be able to play at a stronger and much higher than normal peak level in the first half, but you will be sitting on the sidelines a lot in the second half. Your body will start o cook on you.
In baseball, you are not playing at a high intense level over time. You are only intensified in your work in seperate periods throughout the game.
As far as hand-eye coordination goes; I have always thought that people who ask this question are lost in space somewhere. What does it take to become a good baseball player? You must have the talent, right? Every hitter has to have good hand-eye coordination in order to perform the toughest task in sports (hitting a 95 mph fastball). If you cannot do that, then you would have never been scouted for college ball, much less the pros.
Barry Bonds is the prime example. He is likely the best I have ever seen with hand-eye coordination. An outstanding hitter. The absolute greatest specimen to ever step up to the plate with bat in hand. But he still took that extra step to become even better. It is as if Mariah Carey (to me the greatest voice in history) took a substance to make her sing better. She was already great, but she wanted to be the best.
Ok, back on topic. If you take steroids in baseball, your hand-eye coordination does in fact become stronger. Your nervous system (hand-eye coordination) helps you use your muscles effeciently. The muscles are doing all the work. Now, if you increase the strength of your muscles and already have a superior nervous system, you have created a better product within yourself.
So when you have a man who already has an outstanding ability to hit a baseball or throw a baseball 95 mph for a strike, then produce a substance in his body to become stronger, he will in turn hit or throw the ball much harder.
Scouts meausre a player based on 5 tools. Hitting for contact, hitting for power, running, fielding, and arm strength. If you are gifted in all or most of these areas, you will be a marquee type player. Now, if you increase yor strength by using illegal substances, 3 of those tools will become better than they were before. Hitting for power, running, and arm strength all have to do with your muscular system.
Last example: if I were an extremely good arm wrestler. Would I become even better if I took a substance that increased my strength?
