Red Sox fans were right, Grady ****ing Little sucks
You are down 5 runs in a game, and you've got runners on second and third with two outs in the 5th inning and your starting pitcher is coming up at bat. This situation might be your biggest scoring opportunity in the game, and since this is still the 5th inning and early enough in the game, if you pick up a couple of runs your can still catch up. Your starting pitcher, by virtue of allowing the 5-run deficit, is due to leave the game anyway. And he's nursing a hip injury, which hinders his ability to pitch deep into the game.
Do you do the right thing and lift your starting pitcher for a pinch-hitter or would you be like Grady Little and instead choose to leave said starting pitcher and allow him to kill the potential rally by weakly grounding out to end the inning and pray for a 5-run inning somewhere in the 8th and 9th innings?
