    Mariners Ackley's called up!!

    Mariners recalled 2B Dustin Ackley from Triple-A Tacoma.
    At long last. The Mariners' top prospect since he was taken second overall in the 2009 draft, Ackley was hitting .300 to go along with a .418 on-base percentage and .487 slugging percentage through his first 326 plate appearances this season, and was a noticeably improved player from his time in Triple-A last year. His power is still unlikely to translate to hitter's graveyard Safeco Field, but if you have any sort of a need at second base or in your middle infield, there's no reason not to take an immediate flier on the University of North Carolina product.
    About damn time! The Mariners sit just one game back and definitely need his bat in the lineup. The Mariners have given up 9 more runs than they have scored so any offense is good, even if his defense is questionable. Many scouts don't think the second base experiment will work out but for now, that's where he'll be playing. I am excited to see this kid in action and I bet there will be an increase in tomorrow night's game and not just because its the Phillies.

    I'm sure Rizzo will come around. He's a rookie just now getting accustomed to the big leagues.

    But for the time being batting .148, which included an 0-10 with 5 Ks stretch, is killing me.

    Thankfully it's not like I have to worry about it hurting any kind of playoff run.

    Update: Ackley is hitting .302/.367/.566 with 3 HRs and 8 RBI. Definitely off to a great start and getting the fan base excited.
