The M's are going young as they designated OF Brad Wilkerson & Reserve Greg Norton for assignment and brought up C-Jeff Clement and OF-Wladimer Balentien and both are expected to see a lot of time right away. Good moves for the M's.

Wilkerson goes out with 5 hits in his last three, actually brought his average over .200
What a way to go. Not really surprising since he hasn't been effective or really healthy since he was a National.

Man, Wilkerson just gets worse and worse. About time they got Clement to the show.
GET NOTICED.

The other guy Balentien was also hitting the ball well in AAA. He had 3 HR's in the minors and he must have some speed cuz one of the HR's was an inside the parker.
24 homeruns, 15 steals last year. He weights like, nothing, though.

Balentien has doesnt have Clement-like Power but his speed is serviceable. His defense is a concern though but with Ichiro manning center it will be masked a little. Clement should have up here from the get go.

If the M's had waited one more week, they would control both players for one more year before they each hit free agency.
I don't know much about Balentien, other than what I've read in the reports on the net, but Clement is a nice young man from the town I work in. I know his folks and have talked to him on several occasions. He is a really good guy. He stopped by his old highschool last year around Christmas and talked to the kids for a few minutes. His defense is nothing spectacular, but he works very hard on it and is improving. He should be a decent catcher for the Mariners and his offense will be fine, I'm sure.

These two should be a nice spark to the M's offense. It's about time that guys like Wilkerson and Norton make way for younger, more physically talented players. M's fans should be extremely pumped about this. This can only improve the team. Enjoy the energy that the young'ns bring to the game.
