    Raul Ibanez

Is it me or is this guy just quietly having one of the best seasons in Mariners LF history right now. Not saying much but look at his numbers.

Before todays game in which he hit his 18th homer (2 off his career high).

    Code:
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
    80 312 51 89 18 4 17 63 36 52 2 3 .285 .357 .532 .889
I mean Ichiro is raking and Jose Lopez is having a breakout season but under the radar is Raul.

Wow, he is having a great year. ESPN.com currently has him projected to hit 36 homeruns with 129 RBI. He did a solid job his first 2 years in Seattle but is really taking his game to the next level this year. In 314 AB's this year he has already surpassed his HR and RBI totals from 2004 when he had 481 AB's.

I figured he would start to tail off from his solid numbers from last year, but he has exploded this year. With his work ethic he can probably keep it up for another year too. If we fall out of the race he could also be nice trade bait at the deadline.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.

Everyone on the M's will do what they do quietly outside of Ichiro. Doubt anyone outside of Seattle realizes that the best 1-2 bullpen punch in baseball is up in the NW.

Detroit could have a great one 2 punch if they went with Zumaya-Rodney.

Nothing compared to Soriano-Putz. And I'm not even being a homer, the stats speak for themselves.

They do but that would be a good one-two punch as well.

What about Yuni and Joh? Both are having big years as well. Plus, people that have seen Yuni field are calling him the next Vizquel or Ozzie Smith, but only we know about him. It's garbage.

YuBet is already the best defensive SS in the AL. He is hitting around the .290 mark too. He is absolutely murdering righties, once he gets a better command of the strike zone he will be an all-star every year.

Raul choked today striking out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and then flying out in the 11th with a runner on to end the game.
