Giants get Keppinger

Giants acquired INF Jeff Keppinger from the Astros for RHPs Henry Sosa and Jason Stoffel.
Keppinger is a great fit for the Giants, as he can be used all over the infield. The 31-year-old got off to a late start this season after foot surgery, but is batting .307/.320/.436 with four homers and 20 RBI over 169 plate appearances. He is under team control though 2012.

Sweet deal! Keppinger can now hit in the #2 hole and play second base. If Freddy can come back, Keppinger can slide over to SS. This is why Hector Sanchez was sent down. I like the deal as the Giants gave up nothing of importance to get him. He's under contract through next season which makes it all better. If we can't land a SS next season, we have Keppinger to step in.

When Keppinger was a Red I was a big fan, Good to see him going to a team thats in contention and needs him. I hope he does well

Freddy goes to the 60 day DL, Belt is called up and Sanchez is staying with the team in case Miggy has to go on the DL.

I'm liking this move! Reminds me of the Fontenot trade who is also a versatile player, which is always a plus to have, Kepp is a better hitter!

Keppinger is also ranked as a Type A free agent so if he keeps it up, the Giants could get some draft picks if he walks after '12.
