Chill bro! It was a joke!
Chill bro! It was a joke!
Well my appologies then, I didn't know he was joking.
Barry Zito gave up just one run in three innings in today's game. Zito was blasted for eight runs in his first/inning of the spring.
The battle for the outfield spots is on. Nate Schierholtz is hitting .308 with five RBI in seven games. Fred Lewis is hitting .412 with five RBI in seven games. Rajai Davis is batting .250 with 3 RBI in six games.
After a very good spring debut, Matt Cain was roughed up for five runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Giants released Scott Williamson. He didn't have good stuff this spring so the Giants are letting him try out with another team.
The Giants sent Randy Messenger to Triple-A Fresno and reassigned Brett Harper andScott McClain to Minor League camp.
Eliezer Alfonzo broke out of his slump today going 1-3 with a homerun off of Jared Weaver. Alfonzo is now batting .048 this spring.
Who needs Omar Vizquel when you have Brian Bocock? Bocock looks to be our Opneing Day SS with Vizquel recovering from knee surgery. Bocock has a .239 BA in two minor league seasons, none of them above Class A. Bocock plays great defense which has caught the eye of Bruce Bochy and moved Frandsen to third and second. Burriss and Velez are also in the running but can't play defense like Bocock. Bocock was the ninth-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of Stetson University for the Giants.
Another name you might need to get used to is Justin Leone. Leone has played OF, third and first and is hitting .500 this spring. He versatility could get him a spot on the Opening Day roster but if not I am sure we will see him sometime this season.
Jonathan Sanchez went with a new delivery and it worked. Sanchez gave up one run over three innings but it was unearned. Molina seems to see a huge difference in Sanchez so hopefully he can be consistent with this new delivery.
Battle in the Outfield Update:
Rajai Davis- .280 with four doubles and four RBI.
Nate Schierholtz- .268 with eight RBI and one homerun.
Fred Lewis- .292 with five RBI third this spring in ABs.
Battle for the Rotation Update:
Jonathan Sanchez- 9.00 ERA in 6 IP with six walks and three strikeouts.
Kevin Correia- 5.63 ERA in 8 IP with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Pat Misch- 3.68 ERA in 7.1 IP with four strikeouts and two walks.
Brad Hennessey- 7.71 ERA in 7 IP with two strikeouts and one walk.
I must say I like Misch to be Lowry's replacement.
Ray Durham is hitting .316 with five RBI in eight games.
The Giants have sent down OFer Clay Timpner, OFer John Bowker and pitchers Osiris Matos and Kelvin Pichardo to the minor league camp.
Ray Durham is batting .435 with a 1/3 K/BB ratio this spring.
Eric Threets has five strikeouts in 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
Eugenio Velez now has seven stolen bases.
Omar Vizquel took swings for the first time since undergoing knee surgery. He is hoping to return to the lineup April 7th, the home opener.

Brian Wilson- 2.35 ERA with 1 BB and 8 SOs in 7.2 IP.
Eugenio Velez is still impressing in the utility role hitting .314 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 9 SBs and 2 3Bs. He is leading all Giants in ABs with 51.
Why did you leave out Noah Lowry's spring training stats
Because you rape children?
Eugenio Velez has 11 stolen bases on the year and will be considered for the third base job. Rich Aurilia will either start at first or third but due to Ortmeier's struggles this spring it looks like Aurilia will start at first.
Ryan Rohlinger has made the jump from the minor league camp to the major league camp to audition for the third base job. Rohlinger has not played over Class A ball and hit .235 with 31 doubles, 18 home runs and 78 RBIs last year.
Here's something I found very interesting:
Atkins or Stewart would do just fine. I have suggested both in the past but this is a great idea. I don't care if we are trading within our division, either guy will help this team.Ian Stewart went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk Thursday versus the Cubs.
Stewart has four homers in his last 15 at-bats and is hitting .289/.370/.632 for the spring. It's not going to be enough to get him a job, but he's certainly not hurting his trade value. He's a player the Giants should be focusing on in their search for a third baseman.
ok...so last i heard...zito was apparently just "loosening up" this entire spring...his next start he said he was going to take it seriously, as if it were "game time." so, in his next outing (today), he's apparently going to reveal just what we can expect for the rest of the year...anyone else buying this? i would think that an era verging on being able to vote on its own is far from what i would call "ready" for the season...
Zito can say anything he wants but his fastball is barely breaking 80 mph and he's not throwing it for strikes. Unless he took some HGH to get some more mph, I expect more of the same.
Maybe he can switch it on when he wants.Barry Zito gave up just two hits over 5 2/3 scoreless innings Friday in the Giants' win over the White Sox.
i hope so too.
