Giants Looking At Zaun

The Giants are talking to free agent Gregg Zaun as a possible replacement for Mike Matheny.
Matheny is unlikely to play again due to post-concussion syndrome. Zaun said he greatly respects Matheny, "but if he's not able to play, I'd love the opportunity to play for the Giants." It had looked like the Giants would make a run at Johnny Estrada, but now that he's gone, Zaun might be their best bet. Bengie Molina is another option. They haven't been mentioned in connection with Mike Piazza.

I much rather have Molina but Zaun has some pop too. 12 homers in 290 ABs isn't bad at all plus he would be switching up with Alfonzo.

Apparently Zaun is going back to the Jays on a two year deal. Giants are likely to look a Barajas who the Jays were going to sign until Rod got greedy. Whoever we sign will split time with Alfonzo.
