    I'd rather have someone with a winning record but anyone can do better than what Alou did who also didn't have a winning record. I don't like it all that much but now its time to concentrate on real signings.

    Wasn't Alou considered an elite manager? Sports Illustrated gave him a grade of 4 stars out of 5 in its 2000 baseball season preview issue. Someone then wrote to SI that Bobby Cox shouldn't have been given 5 stars while Alou was given 4; and if Alou were given the Braves, the Braves would have 4 rings instead of just 1.

    Alou has a career record under .500 so hell no he is not an elite manager and Giants fans know that now. SI is shit by the way
