I don't what a manager who doiesn't have that fire in his belly. If Righetti said he doesn't want to maange I'd take him at his word and move on. I hadn't heard that about Righetti.Originally Posted by Bear

Oh my god your logic is unbelieveable!
Well name any any former pitcher that managed?

The one that comes to mind although I hated him (the most when he won World Series Titles) was Tommy Lasorda! There have been others. But your logic fails with this point. If I were to say before 1960 name a president in US history who was catholic you could not have named one. In 1960 JFK was made president and most people were very happy with the job he did.
So because there has or has not been a pitcher who became a manager make no sense!!
Yep, there is always a first time but if Righetti doesn't want to be a manger (and some people just don't) then I say look elsewhere.
He said I don't want to manage at this point. If he did not want to manage he would not have interviewed for the job in the first place. I think he felt at the time he needed more experence. He has that now so he might reconsider wanting to manage. Thats Logic!!!
Excellent point. People change their points of view. Maybe next season would be the right time. I think he'd be good but he has to wnat it BAD IMO if he wants to be successful.Originally Posted by Bear

I suppose so. He has had a while to rethink his objectives so who knows.
Time will tell I guess.
Times up! Ask and he will take it!
How do you know that? First we're being premature. Alou may not leave.
He will one way or the other!! Ownership is growing tired of his act!
But no telling what "management" is thinking.
They may keep him because they can get him on the cheap!
Who knows. I woldn't color call Alou gone just yet.
