Bay & Nady are both tearing it up .......... do we have any more of these gems in our farm system wasting away and not getting a chance to play ?

Nady was doing just as good this time last year before he started deteriating.
I'm waiting to see if he keeps it up before I start wondering why he didn't do just as good in his 750+ at bats as a Padre.
And even then, it's not like we got garbage in return for him. And as good as his bat has been thus far, Cameron fits the PetCo outfield much MUCH better than X does.

True enough, but we'll never know what he could have done for a full year last year...........clearly he would have posted better #'s than Klesko did.......while playing a superior corner OF spot.........one thing is for sure......he's ripping it up now

Nady has that sweet swing and can still knock the crap out of the ball. He's on my fantasy team and has been a stud thus far. I know we don't know what he could have done as an every day player, but you saw a glimpse of it when he got to start a few games last year and he hit 4 or 5 HR's in that short span.

Even if Nady turns out to be a stud I won't be that sore that we lost him, because it's not like we got nothing in return for him.
It's not like when we traded Fred McGriff, Roberto Alomar, or Woody Williams the first time around.

If we don't extend Cameron or resign him then we'll have traded away a very good younger OFer.........and for nothing

good point
although I find it rough to consider him a "good young OFer" moreso a "good young hitter who plays in the outfield"

he's got the arm, decent speed, and if he actaully had played one position everyday he's athletic enough to adapt to being a very solid OFer IMO....he was never given that chance here, and is in NY and I think we'll know this answer by the break
-
I think the Padres will lock up Cameron long term. He's got a lot of speed and can cover a lot of ground in Center Field. I put up the link to the 2006-2007 Free Agents, and besides guys like Andy Pettite, Mark Mulder and Barry Zito, there aren't a lot of big names on the Free Agent list. Though one name I saw that made me chuckle was Phil Nevin, I wonder if the Padres are actually watching how well Phil has been playing in Texas?

there's no way they resign Phil
all history aside, there's a reason Phil's playing DH in texas.
(well, ok, 2 reasons)

I was kidding about Phil, Leo. It just made me laugh when I saw his name out there. I know he's been hitting as well as he has because Arlington Stadium is one of the biggest hitters park in baseball, next to Coors Field.
