Yet another frustrating loss by our Padres. Park didn't pitch all that bad, though his pitch count was way too high for the amount of innings he threw. What frustrates me the most is, this team continues to struggle when they need the big hit. We had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the 9th and both Roberts and Sledge couldn't bring at least 1 of them in to tie the game.

I'm really hoping Cameron can jump start this offense. I felt bad for Peavy Saturday night. He pitched his *** off and gets absolutely ZERO help from our offense. Our 1-7 batters were 2-25 I believe that night, that's not going to get it done.

He should be used to that by now......... lol ...... he'd have won 20 games & the Cy Young last year if he had any help from the offense at all......

If I remember correctly, one of the biggest games last year was against the Dodgers. Peavy pitched a complete game and the Padres won that game only 1-0. For a kid that pitches as well as Peavy does, you'd think he'd get 4-5 runs to work with.

My wife and I were talking about the game on Saturday and she didn't know how Jake couldn't go into that locker room and yell "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS"

to be fair, not discounting the lackluster offense, but in that game in particular they were hitting the ball hard all night (at least while taking into account who they were facing) But Atlanta's stingy outfield was chasing anything and everything hit to them down.

If Atlanta had even a decent outfield defense, vice the supurb one they have which includes arguably the best defensive CFer in the game, I'd wager the Padres would've scored at least 3 or 4 runs against Smoltz.

Hollywood.......I hear what you're saying........the "yah but" is this...... you can't fault a team for actually playing defense well.......Atl's OF defense covers a ton of ground.........well so does ours ! Or at least it's supposed too.....

oh, I know. I wasn't trying to make excuses. They just have a tough defense.

That Smoltz game.... that's one I wouldn't mind just giving the arbitrary "tip your cap" to and not be too bothered by the loss under ideal circumstances.

If they weren't playing so crappy as a whole in other games, that loss by itself, with as great as Atlanta played on every aspect of the game, wouldn't really be all that bothersome.

and in regards to our outfield defense... the main cog in that defense that's supposed to cover a lot of ground is on the DL

You know what, Cameron is going to come in here and with him just being in the lineup is going to spark everybody else. He's going to be making spectacular plays in Center, he's going to be getting base hits, moving runners, stealing bases, and it's going to light a fire under everybody else.

Cameron said it himself during Spring Training. He wants this team to steal more bases, be active on the base paths, keep pitchers guessing. If pitchers are distracted by Cameron, Roberts or whoever, he makes a mistake to a Khalil or Piazza and forget about it!
