Hampson optioned.........this I'm pretty shocked by......this guy had promise, talent and value IMO.......why not dump Sledge or Bocachica instead.....we have a slight logjam in the OF in case they've forgotten
They optioned him?
I thought they were just sending him down.

San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres today reinstated outfielder Milton Bradley from the 15-day disabled list and subsequently placed outfielder Terrmel Sledge on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 28) due to a sprained right thumb.
The club also returned right-handed pitcher Doug Brocail from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Justin Hampson has been optioned to Triple-A Portland.
Milton Bradley, who went on the 15-day disabled list on July 1 (retroactive to June 21) due to a strained left oblique muscle, was acquired by San Diego with cash considerations from the Oakland Athletics on June 29 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Andrew Brown. The 29-year-old switch-hitter played in 19 games for Oakland this season, hitting .292 (19-for-65) with four doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, six runs scored and eight walks before he was designated for assignment by the A’s on June 21. In 649 career Major League games, Bradley has hit .271 (625-for-2309) with 133 doubles, 12 triples, 70 homers, 292 RBI, 331 runs scored and 286 walks for Montreal (2000-2001), Cleveland (2001-2003), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2004-2005) and Oakland (2006-2007).
The 30-year-old Terrmel Sledge suffered the injury diving for a ball on June 27 in San Francisco. In 57 games for the Padres this season, he is hitting .224 (32-for-143) with six doubles, six homers, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored. Sledge has made 38 starts this season, including 37 in left field and one in right. Over parts of four Major League seasons with Montreal/Washington (2004-05) and San Diego (2006-07), Sledge has batted .253 (164-for-648) with 29 doubles, seven triples, 24 home runs, 93 RBI and 76 runs scored in 248 games.
Brocail, 40, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 22 (retroactive to June 21) due to a strained left gluteus muscle. He returns after making one rehabilitation appearance with San Diego’s Single-A Lake Elsinore affiliate on July 4, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 3.31 ERA (12 ER/32.2 IP) in 29 relief appearances for the Padres this season. Over parts of 13 Major League seasons, Brocail has a 41-43 record with seven saves and 4.06 ERA (338 ER/749.2 IP) in 496 games (42 starts) with San Diego (1992-1994, 2006-07), Houston (1995-96), Detroit (1997-2000) and Texas (2004-05).
Hampson, 27, was recalled from Portland on May 4 for his second stint with San Diego this season. He has made 16 relief appearances overall with the Padres, going 2-2 with a 2.30 ERA (7 ER/27.1 IP). In six games with Portland this year, Hampson is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (1 ER/6.0 IP), limiting opponents to a .190 batting average (4-for-21). Claimed off waivers by San Diego from Colorado on Oct. 11, 2006, Hampson is 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA (17 ER/36.1 IP) in 20 Major League games (one start) with Colorado (2006) and San Diego (2007
I think Boca needs more playing time. I like him in the lineup more than Cruz. He gives you speed on the base paths and in the outfield.

Boca is more of a hole in the lineup than Cruz would ever be.....as hard as that is to imagine
Guys I am having Lasik tomorrow so may not be able to sign on, so I am putting my prediction here against the D-Backs. Sweep, Maddux is do for another win he's lost two in a row now, Peavey wins against Hernandez, who will rough up every now and again. Third game will be trickey either CY is pissed off about the loss in the ASG and comes out flamming or he is rattled and sucks, plus they are playing against Web who could very well shut out offense down.
I will call W - W - W, but it could easily go W - W - L.
Good luck with your lasik.....you really sure you want to SEE the real world
Friday joke of the day for you guys.........especially the married guys
Subject: headaches
A woman comes home and tells her husband, "Remember those headaches I've been having all these years? Well, they're gone."
"No more headaches?" the husband asks, "What happened?"
His wife replies, Margie referred me to a hypnotist. He told me to stand in front of a mirror, stare at myself and repeat
I do not have a headache.
I do not have a headache.
I do not have a headache.
It Worked! The headaches are all gone."
The husband replies, "Well, that is wonderful."
His wife then says, "You know, you haven't been exactly a ball of fire in the bedroom these last few years.
Why don't you go see the hypnotist and see if he can do anything for that?"
The husband agrees to try it.Following his appointment, the husband comes home, rips off his clothes, picks up his wife and carries her into the bedroom.
He Puts her on the bed and says, "Don't move, I'll be right back." He goes into the bathroom and comes back. A few minutes later and jumps into bed and makes passionate love to his wife like never before.
His wife says, "Boy, that was wonderful!"
The husband says, "Don't move!
I will be right back.
He goes back Into the bathroom, comes back and round two was even better than the first time.
The wife sits up and her head is spinning.
Her husband again says,
"Don't move, I'll be right back."
With that, he goes back in the bathroom.
This time, his wife quietly follows him and there, in the bathroom,
She sees him standing at the mirror and saying,
She's not my wife.
She's not my wife.
She's not my wife
His funeral services will be held on Friday
