Padres hitting.....
Padres hitting.....
What hitting ??
oxy moron.....
pretty much.....but I do still believe this team will hit....just happens to be slumping out of the gates..........they better know that they wont have a repeat May like they did last year to bail them out of the cellar.....they really need to work on some consistancy in the positive direction.....this is getting very old, very fast
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Alderson did say that he was going to have a "contender" on the field right? Are we not starting that this year?
I think they were hoping beyond hope that the old guys could muster one more season.......and get them to next year when we all know we're going to have a retooled team
The Padres will also have a lot of money to play with during the offseason
yup to the tune of $35+M at this point
There was an article on ESPN.com about the Free Agent market, or lack thereof, after this season. I think the Padres will need to look to do some trades instead of waiting until the offseason to try and find their "golden" player.
Assuming the bulk of them don't get locked up the pitching market should be nice this offseason.
In regards to the position players, the main holes will be catcher, third base, maybe left field and maybe centerfield.
The answer to LF and 3B may already be in the system (Ben Johnson and Justin Leone respectively)
Centerfield most likely won't be a hole, all they have to do is pick up Cameron's option.
So that leaves catcher, and possibly the corner outfield spot if they don't feel Ben Johnson is ready for it or if they include him in a trade.
So, with that said, I don't know what the market for Catchers looks like next year.
And, to answer the question that's bound to come up in respones, I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure Kotteras will still be one more year away.

I'm honored guys and girls...especially being voted unanimously. I'm having fun being here and it's high time our Padres started winning. Could this be another month as they had this time last year? Time will tell.....Los Angeles Dodgers...YOU'RE NEXT!

Hey Leo - you're in the Navy right? What did you think of David Blaine's stunt, trying to hold his breath underwater as long as possible? He held it for 7 minutes before being pulled out.
Aren't you Navy guys supposed to be real good at this? Or maybe it's the Navy SEALs guys, I dunno. How long do you think you could hold out?
