still, you take a select number of players, Bill points out the entire team.
and you want to talk about a joke of a stadium, in bandbox terms, Citizens Bank in Philly is just about as bad as Coors.

UGH....... I just said that I didn't remove all bandbox stats, only the Coors Canaveral stats......Coors is the biggest joke in MLB......and is considered by players to be a wiffleball field, which is why I don't include stats there for hitters or pitchers in anything I'm trying to figure out.........if you want to remove all bandbox stats........please do......and tell me what you come up with.........that will lop-side them even further toward my theory, so please do......Originally Posted by HollywoodLeo

By the way......that breakdown I gave is crystal clear to me, and shows that petco gives up the longball just fine. It just wont give up the pop-up HR like some places now a days.
If you didn't understand that I was talking about other teams power hitters vs Padre Power hitters when all this started.......... then I'm really sorry......... I do take for granted that the people posting here will go ahead and take a huge leap like that when talking about HR's......since 99.9% of the time HR's are discussed with power hitters in mind.
Goddamn guys, Hollywood and Pads wrote like nine novels on this page.
lol reefer.........we think past the purple haze !!
ok, I made this ongoing debate its own thread, so that the offseason thread that I sticky'd remains on topic.

your stats do seem to favor your argument, wheras mine favor my side.Originally Posted by padrefanforever

The fact remains, however, that, at least last season, visiting teams have hit less HRs in PetCo than they have in other parks, minus a few.
another fact remains that the Padres have both given up and hit more HRs on the road than at home.
Of course, it appears that a handful of key players on the Padres' offense have even splits, so who knows. I'll do more research on this when I get back

lol.........and Eckstein and Roberts both go deep in the NLDS final game......... congrats to Petco for proving that anyone can hit a homerun there.......
And I disagree........the stats I gave prove that it's the personell we have not the ballpark.......had we the personell we'd also have the HR count......
Again, I never, nor has anyone else ever stated that it is impossible to hit it out of PetCo Park. I hate it whenever someone who's not normally a HR hitter gets a good swing on a ball and hits one at PetCo because then people come rushing out of the woodworks to exclaim "LOOK! He hit it out of PetCo, it's obviously not a pitcher's park!!!"
No, all that means is that David Eckstein got one of his rare HRs and it happend to be at PetCo.
Furthermore, and I'm starting to sound like a broken record with how many times I have to repeat this, I agree that the personell were an issue, i'm not debating that. It's rather obvious by the HR totals by opposing teams as compared to Padres HRs. There is no argument here and anyone who wanted to argue it has no ground to stand on.
The stats you give show that a select few, albeit key players have roughly even splits if you conviniently take out Coors anyways.
The stats I show shows that an entire team suddenly hits and gives up more home runs when not playing in PetCo park, very oddly by a similar margin. Is this a coincidence? You tell me.
Furthermore, the other stats I give shows that PetCo ranked 3rd to last in HRs by the opposition amongst NL parks last season. Personnel quality has little to no effect in this stat, so that's not even a factor (which is why I asked for that to begin with...)
Maybe we've been constantly having seperate debates. If all you're trying to do is convince me that the Padres don't have any real HR hitters, then we may as well stop because I agree with you on that.
If you're trying to convince me that PetCo isn't a pitcher's park simply because David Eckstein and Dave Roberts hit a hr there the other day, then I beg to differ.

here we go. Once again PetCo ranks near the bottom amonst NL parks.
of course, with Coors at 8 i'm a bit perplexed. I'd say facing the same pitchers in that park could have something to do with it...but Colorado doesn't exactly have great pitching.

and how many of those were by Padre power hitters ?
Does it matter how many were by Padre hitters? The whole reason why I'm using opposition HRs is because it's not Padre hitters. This way it takes away the whole "it's not the park, it's the hitters" thing.
Once again, I agree with you that the Padres have no power hitters. We're not debating that....or at least I don't think we are.
I'm trying to argue that PetCo is the pitcher's park that everyone says it is. Just because you and I get sick of certain Padres complaining about it doesn't make it any less true.
The number of HRs in the above stats that are by Padre "power" hitters is irrelivant to my argument.

Yes actually what was said ....... waaaaaaay back when is that it's not that Petco is a pitchers park because other teams power hitters aren't having problems hitting the ball out...... it's the personell.......and our complete lack of power hitters.......if we had some legit power hitters......... Petco wouldn't rank at the bottom of that list ......... lol........sheesh...... cause and effect.......we have no power guys, therefore the HR totals are down at Petco......... opposing teams don't appear to have much of a problem hitter here, only we do.........
This echos my thoughts of Dodger Stadium being a "pitcher's park." The Dodger batters can't hit but the ballpark is 6th in HRs on the Leo's list.Originally Posted by padrefanforever
