The latest excitement occurred late Sunday night when the Padres star pitcher cut the palm of his left hand while performing the most basic of household chores – taking out the garbage.

"I pressed down on (the cover) and there was a top to a green bean can that sliced me wide open," Peavy said before last night's 7-5 loss to Arizona at Petco Park. "The green beans were wonderful, but if I'd have known they'd have caused me this . . . "
