I wouldn't have been too shocked. The target year was still 2020 and teams change managers all the time moving into the target year. I guess without other information I may have not believed it under the assumption that signing Manny means they probably sold the farm to go all in in 2019 adding more than just Manny, though.

Anyway, the early list includes Bochy, Soscia, Ron Washington, Phil Nevin, Mark Loretta, and Moises Alou
