I roll my eyes whenever I hear the pundits on MLB Now or MLB Tonight suggest that it's better to sign players to shorter term deals even if you overpay them than you would have on a longer term. Like you would be okay with the player making $30M per year over 2 years than spreading the $60M over 4 years?
In two years with the first deal you’d have 15 mil more in aav available than you’d have in the second deal.
That may not matter too much with no cap but revenue sharing makes it matter some.
