    Dodgers get Yasmani Grandal, Joe Weiland, and SP Zach Eflin

    Padres get Kemp, C Tim Federowicz, and about 31 mil to help with Kemp's salary.

    I always think I could have made a better trade if I was the GM so from that standpoint of course I think we got hosed.

    Huh? By any metric, Grandal is one of the better catchers in pitch framing. Hell, he can't possibly be any worse than A.J. Ellis who ranks at the bottom. For that matter, Ellis is worse than Grandal at everything except maybe throwing out runners.

    Dodgers gonna be a bust this year. Kershaw will be kershaw, cause hes a bastard and a horse, but they wont make it deep. If they win 85 games itll be a let down, and i see the, winning about that. They wont make it past the brewers in the wild card game. I know they wont. I hope they dont... I just know Kemp wont be happy when he doesnt hit more than maybe 15 homers in a year.

    Do I believe Grandal is worth 13 runs with his pitch framing according to some metric, while on the flip side AJ is negative 15 runs? Probably not. But I'll take it over subjective value judgment like "calls a good game" or "pitchers like throwing to him."

    Yeah, I don't disagree. I just literally hadn't heard much at all, if anything about "pitch framing" until this trade and now it's all anyone wants to talk about when it comes to catchers and defense.
