    I'd rather get him without giving up Myers, but I don't think I'd be entirely upset if that happened.

    I'd be willing to give up Hedges and another top prospect instead if need be.

    According to multple tweets and rumors sites the Padres are looking like the heavy favorites to sign James Shields, which means someone else will swoop in and overpay him.

    I'd rather overpay Shields a little than nothing.

    Dream scenario: They sign Shields and still pull off a trade for Hamels (even if it involves Cashner)

    I'm not holding my breath for that one, though.

    Latest report on Shields is the Padres have a last and final offer on the table and he's waiting to decide on it.

    After watching Alonso kill any hope they had in the 9th grounding into a double play I'd probably want Myers at 1st even if he made two top 10 plays tonight.

    As if you wouldn't laugh at them starting Maybin and his career 87 OPS+ if that's the route they went.

    I'd be perfectly content with Venable in the lineup over Alonso.
