Until the role is filled, the “office of the general manager” will be comprised of Senior Vice President, Baseball Operations Omar Minaya and Assistant General Managers AJ Hinch and Fred Uhlman, Jr. on an interim basis.

I hope they hire an outside candidate because I'm not too fond of those bolded names. (Well, two of them. Not very familiar with Uhlman Jr.)

In sports the problem is never one guy, but Josh Byrnes has a poor track record that precedes his tenure in San Diego.

I'm sure mofo is chopping at the bit to create a dupe to remind me of how I praised some of his first few trades when he took over while conveniently forgetting the tone I conveyed about how it seemed to contradict my general opinion of his track record of his career.

As for spending money, that will forever and ALWAYS be a problem of ANY San Diego owner and GM so long as MLB continues to run without a salary cap. But at least they're not dipping the bottom of the salary pool now that Layaway Moorad is no longer trying to buy the team. They're spending 90 mil this year, which is about 7 million more than the team with the best record in the majors right now.

I'm sure the Rizzo and Latos deals are probably going to follow him forever. Assuming he made those..

Rizzo isn't looking quite as bad with Cashner performing well, but his injury history popped up again this year.
