"He's going to be shut down for a period of time that will take him past 15 days," Black said. "I know it's frustrating. I'm bummed for him." While Black wouldn't discuss a timetable for the right-hander, it sure sounds like surgery, which may or may not end his season, is possible. With Tim Stauffer (elbow) not quite ready, the Padres could call up Joe Wieland to make his major league debut Saturday.
