Padres exec likely heading to Cubs, but which one? | SignOnSanDiego.com
Very interesting, Harang turned things around so Lackey could be a possibility but the Red Sox would have to eat a lot and I mean a lot!-The Padres have internally discussed the possibility of acquiring starting pitcher John Lackey from the Red Sox, if the Red Sox agree to eat most of Lackey’s contract. Lackey formerly pitched for Bud Black when the Padres manager was the Angels' pitching coach.
Lackey, 32, was 12-12 with a 6.41 ERA in 28 starts for the Red Sox in 2011 and recently came under criticism for his actions during games in the Boston clubhouse while between starts. Lackey has three seasons to go plus a vesting option for 2015 on a five-year, $82.5 million contract.
