Richard is outperforming Jake to this point, sample size be damned.

Poreda is doing fine, although the 5-10 strikeout-walk ratio bothers me.

The other two are stinking up the joint.

Okay. Not only sample size be damned, but the difference between a DH league and a non-DH league be damned, and ballpark factors be damned. Also, forget that Richard (4.65 ERA, 4.42 FIP) was overall not good for the White Sox.

Ah, f*** it. If even John Ely is "outperforming" Peavy, then baseball logic be damned.

This is meant as nothing more than an informational thread but I can't say I'm surprised that you'd take it as meaning anything else.

I look forward to a seemingly random post in a thread completely unrelated to this topic talking about how I think Clayton Richard is the next Nolan Ryan sometime in the future.

DH ? Are you suggesting that it's only due to the DH that Jake is getting torched by entire lineups ? That's a relief.....at least it's not because he's flat out pitching like shit

Fearless prediction: Peavy goes on the DL before the end of the month. Dude's got to be hurt in some way, he can't even throw strikes consistently anymore.

stats by the 9-hole hitter in the AL still beats an automatic out in the pitcher's spot. Sometimes it's the difference between a big inning and a rally killer.

Exactly. This guy was arguably last year's second best pitcher in the NL and even he is pitching like shit in the AL. The AL is a different monster.

Last year was hardly indicative of Vazquez's career. It was a career year for him.

I'm not denying that there's a difference between pitching to a line up with a DH and pitching to one without a DH, because there is, but that difference isn't so great that it alone can be the difference between Jake being a perennial Cy Young candidate and pitching like shit like he currently is.
